You do not automatically need four monitors. Start with the views you genuinely use at the same time.

What do you want to do with your setup?

Your market and working style determine your requirements. A simple chart workspace needs different data and resources from several footprint charts alongside live calls.

Analyse charts and learn

You follow a few markets, use indicators and want to understand your expert's analysis or courses.

  • An accessible platform with the markets and tools you need.
  • Historical or delayed data may suit slow-paced analysis; check real-time status for decisions in the current market.
  • One or two monitors and an existing computer may be enough initially. Test with your actual workload.

Use order flow, footprint and DOM

You want to see executed trades, volume at price and potentially detailed order book information.

  • Footprint, Time & Sales and DOM are different tools. Check which your platform provides.
  • Clarify tick data, required history and market depth separately. A basic real-time subscription does not automatically include everything.
  • CPU, RAM and a stable connection matter more as charts, tick history and indicators increase.

Several markets and applications in parallel

You use many charts, scanners, a browser and live calls, potentially with additional calculations or recording.

  • Check data coverage, concurrent connections and licences for each application.
  • Plan around windows you need to see simultaneously rather than maximising screen count.
  • Test memory use, CPU load, display outputs and resolution under realistic conditions.

Work on a laptop, Mac or on the move

You want flexibility at home and away.

  • Check current operating system support. A browser platform may be an alternative to an application available only on Windows.
  • Docks and laptops have specific display limits; USB-C alone does not guarantee video output.
  • Stable connectivity, battery life and a backup access route matter more than many mobile windows.

Which trading platform fits your plans?

Choose based on markets, analysis tools and usability first. Then check broker, data feed and operating system together. Two good products do not automatically form a suitable combination.

  • Markets and exchanges: for example equities, futures, forex or crypto. Which specific instruments do you need?
  • Working style: traditional charts, footprint, DOM, scanners, custom indicators or strategies?
  • Execution: analysis only or placing orders too? Which broker and account type are supported?
  • Environment: operating system, multiple computers, mobile use, chart count and the cost of required features?

ATAS / ATAS X

If volume and order flow analysis matter: check required tools, the exact ATAS version and available connections. Do not assume ATAS and ATAS X have identical setup procedures.

Check with the provider

TradingView

For charts and market overview in a browser or desktop app: check exchange data subscriptions, required features and any broker connection separately.

Check with the provider

NinjaTrader

If futures and a desktop workspace matter: check current product features, operating system, account model and available data and trading connections for your account.

Check with the provider

Sierra Chart

For a customisable chart and trading environment: check the software package, data service, exchange permissions and intended trading connection together.

Check with the provider

Quantower

For different markets and analysis tools in one workspace: check which connections and features your licence and provider actually support.

Check with the provider

Links lead to official provider information. This is guidance, not a ranking or approval of a particular combination. Test with a demo or trial before buying where available.

The right market data makes a difference.

The platform displays and processes data. A data feed delivers it. Your broker may supply data or handle execution; exchanges and providers can require separate permissions and fees.

Real-time or delayed?

Check the instrument's actual data status. A moving chart does not prove real-time access. Delayed data cannot replace current data for short-term decisions.

Level 1 or market depth?

Level 1 typically provides current prices and best bid/ask quotes. Level 2 or market depth supplies further order book levels. Coverage and presentation depend on market and provider.

Tick data and history

Footprint, Time & Sales and historical analysis depend on individual events, coverage and available history. Candlestick chart access is not automatically complete tick history.

Exchanges and subscriber status

CME and Eurex, for example, require distinct coverage. Clarify non-professional/professional status, additional fees and required instruments with the provider.

Analysis and order execution

A data feed does not open a trading account. Check broker, account, region, data connection and order routing. Displaying an instrument does not guarantee you can trade it.

Concurrent connections

Check simultaneous logins and additional charges across applications or computers. Data for the same market can differ by source, contract, trading hours or settings.

Which data providers can you explore?

Rithmic and CQG are examples in futures. Sierra Chart offers the Denali Exchange Data Feed. With TradingView, check each exchange data subscription and any connected broker source. Support for your exact combination matters more than the provider's name.

A computer that supports your daily work.

The most expensive graphics card is not the deciding factor. Your software, concurrent applications, data volume and screen resolutions matter. These ranges are planning guidance, not manufacturer minimums or measured performance promises.

What does your current computer offer?

Start with what you already have. Your browser can provide some clues; check the exact specifications and your trading platform's performance separately.

The check starts only when you click. Detected values stay on this page and are neither uploaded nor saved. No additional screen permissions are requested.

CPU: responsiveness and concurrent workload

Look for good per-core performance and room for concurrent applications. A current CPU with around 6–8 capable cores is a starting point for a new general workspace; calculations or recording may need more. Generation, cooling and software matter more than GHz alone.

RAM: charts, history and open applications

16 GB may suit a light workspace; 32 GB often gives more room for charts, a browser and calls. Consider 64 GB for extensive tick history, many applications or large calculations. Measure your existing computer before upgrading.

Graphics: suitable display outputs first

Integrated graphics may suffice for simple charts if your CPU and computer include it and support the intended displays. Many or high-resolution screens may require a separate graphics card. Check count, connections, resolution and refresh rate; a gaming flagship is not automatically necessary.

SSD, cooling and noise

An SSD helps startup and loading larger datasets. Allow free space for history and recordings; around 1 TB may be a useful starting point but is not required by everyone. Good cooling and low noise help longer sessions.

Monitors: useful space over quantity

One or two monitors often suffice initially. Every extra screen should have a clear purpose. A 27-inch 1440p screen is one option; test text size and scaling with 4K. Check simultaneous output limits of graphics and docks, not just the number of sockets.

Mouse, keyboard and ergonomics

A comfortable accurate mouse and familiar keyboard with thoughtful shortcuts help everyday work. Do not assign critical actions casually to macro keys. Include desk, chair, lighting, screen height and monitor arms in your plan.

Network and resilience

A stable wired connection can reduce variability. Check outages, router and possible backup connection; headline bandwidth alone does not guarantee low latency. Keep an alternative broker access route ready and know how to use it during an outage.

Live calls and recording

For coaching and discussion, consider a clear microphone, headphones and a suitable camera. Streaming and recording add workload. Test applications you actually use simultaneously during sessions.

What does your setup really cost?

Separate purchases from recurring costs. Check current terms rather than treating one package price as the entire cost.

One-off

Computer or upgrades, screens, dock, cables, mouse, keyboard, headset, camera and workspace.

Recurring

Trading software, data feed, exchange permissions, extra connections, internet and potentially cloud or hosting services.

Budget separately

Broker fees and trading costs, plus booked expert offers. Your free Vebelio account does not replace a software licence, market data or trading account.

Common trading setup questions

Do I need a new trading computer immediately?

No. Test existing hardware with the intended software and concurrent applications first. Upgrade specific components when you identify a bottleneck.

Are four monitors better than one?

Only if the additional space is useful. More screens also mean more information, space and technical requirements. Give each view a clear purpose first.

Is real-time data enough for order flow?

Real-time describes delay. Your tools may also need tick data, specific volume information, history and market depth. Check exact coverage.

Can I use any feed with any platform?

No. Platform, broker, account, feed, exchange and region must fit together. Check current support with providers; missing information is not compatibility approval.

Does Vebelio include exchange market data?

Vebelio connects you to experts and authorised content. Trading software, market data and broker access are supplied separately. Vebelio Connect is not a general exchange market data feed.

Can I read this without a Vebelio account?

Yes. This guidance is public. Protected expert content and connector use have their own access requirements afterwards.
